VON ALLIN deals with basic feelings such as breaking up, sticking together, splitting up and being caught up, holding on to the old or the new that can arise from it. She literally divides the canvases to reinforce the feeling of change. Her sculptural paintings are composed of divided canvases in order to capture the feeling of rupture and the falling into pieces or harmony and falling into place. In this way, paintings become installations.
